For decades, the war on illicit drugs has had been going on. Costing already of billions of dollars and thousands of lives, it seems that the government is not wining the upper hand. The problem with illegal drug trafficking is the fact that the demand is really there and even growing consistently. USA alone is a major drug consuming country. For as long as there is a strong demand, unscrupulous traders would always lay their lives and reputation on the line just to have a good dip into the money pot.
I would say that the drug dealers are winning the war. They make a lot of money and most of the time are not caught. The government can only do so little and spend so much money. The drug dealers adapt though and they are smart enough to know when and where to sell. They are very careful and it is hard to catch them. Since the demand is so high, they keep selling them and make a lot of money.
