Most times, I keep anti-bacterial or anti-biotic cream like Neosporin in the house for simple cuts and scrapes. Though I usually treat the area with isopropyl alcohol first before applying the cream. This technique seems to work fine. What type of anti-biotic cream do you use for cuts and scrapes? Or, do you simply use soap and water?
I never use any creams, im not a big fan of them they always seem to make the edges of the cut soggy and takes longer to heal. Im not a plaster fan either ...We use just water to clean the wound out or if needed salt water.
Alright, now there's something I didn't know. I have experienced that soggy edge on cuts and scrapes before and wasn't sure why it was happening. Well, now I know. Thanks for the information. I might just switch to just isopropyl alcohol for sanitizing cuts and scrapes and see how that goes. For the most part, I need to sanitize wounds cause of the cats. My cats have germs. And, on the rare occasion when I get scratched by one of the cats, isopropyl alcohol keeps the wound from getting infected. Nothing scars like a cat scratch.
Err.. I just wash it with water and leave it.. That's how we're taught while serving army. I've had a lot of deep cuts and I just wrap them with cloth and it heals on its own.
I too use Neosporin. I usually just wash the cut or scrape away with lukewarm water and maybe an alcohol swap, then apply a bandage with Neosporin on it. It works just fine!
Neosporin is a really good anti-biotic cream and keep me from scarring too much over tiny scrapes and cuts. My cuts get infected very easily, having so many cats around. They're germy little creatures, but I love them all. And, when my cuts get infected, they scar. I have dozens of tiny scars on my hands from slight kitchen mishaps. I'm kind of clumsy with a knife. But, not so many infected cuts since I started using Neosporin and isopropyl alcohol for first aid.
Usually soap and water is good enough for me. Along with a little cloth for the time that I am bleeding. Sometimes if I feel the wound has a higher chance of getting infected I will put alcohol on it. But other than that, once the bleeding stops, I just leave it be. Not unless it's a bad wound do I do more like having the use of bandages.
A band-aid or bandage is always a good idea. And, it keeps dirt out of the wound. Right now, I'm out of band-aids. It's the one thing I'm constantly forgetting to buy when I'm at the store. I might just have to order some band-aids from an online store. It's just easier to order everything online these days. I don't have time or gas money to go hopping around town just to buy all these little necessities.
I agree both that it can be a good idea and that it can keep it clean (it's what it supposed to do, anyway.) I believe I have some, and yeah, I agree that online is the place to go in current times. Gas is ridiculous at about $3.60/gal where I live. It was right at $4.00 a few weeks ago. Not to mention the internet has much more options.
Yeah, the gas prices are crazy high lately. And, we just went through Memorial Day weekend in the US and everyone was out on the roads in their car. We just stayed home all weekend through Monday and celebrated in our own way. No need to go out onto the roads with such dangerous driving conditions. Gas prices being what they are, we just didn't have any other choice.
