Which sport pays more? Mixed Martial arts or Boxing?

Manny Pacquiao earns like at least 17 million US dollars these days with each of his fights. I think he fights once a year and the most if twice a year. I have been a fan of UFC and this sport is just more brutal I think since you are not limited to the use only of your fists. You can also use your elbow knees and you can take your opponent down.

Boxing is risky but I think that mixed martial arts has more risks to it but I think that what they are earning is just a fraction of what the popular boxers get. I am not sure of this but I think that this is whats happening since MMA fighters fight more frequently just to pay their bills.

Hmm I think you just play soccer and get a deal like David Beckham did, $250 million for 5 years.
And I'd say right now boxers earn more as boxing is more established and well-known. As MMA grows more and more popular the salaries of the fighters will likely rise as well.

Well I think Boxing pays more! I had a very bad experience with Boxing! :(

Boxing pays more. Like what you wrote Pacquaio gets a couple million for each fight and that's in US currency, Try converting it into Philippine peso and you'd be wow'd by how much he has. So yea, Boxing pays more. It's actually a noteworthy story how he rose to the top. Also, like what the others have said, Boxing is more established compared to MMA but MMA is indeed more brutal and by the looks of it, hurts a lot more as well.

Boxing pays more because it is a more established sport. It also has a richer history of greatness and is marketed much better.

With that said, I also think boxing needs some help these days. Alot of their matches are not as good anymore due to outside ring drama and corruption. I'm not sure if MMA is suffering these problems but I know it is getting more and more popular. Still not to the point of threatening boxing, but if boxing does not shape up, MMA will eventually take it over in popularity.

I occasionally watch a little of both and have always thought that boxing came with the higher paycheck. Sometimes I just can't stand to watch MMA for too long because it is more brutal. Everything goes. :cautious:
