Ermmmmmm, i would say not. I looked into this for Jaz. But then i looked at all the Terms and Conditions on all the policies i was interested in and found some things just were not covered. That to be honest you think would, most infact all u spoke to wont cover conditions that was there before you took the policy out. And like Jaz he suffers with eye infections witch is on his medical records. So had to declare it and because of this they wont cover it. So it would have to come out of my own pocket. So i voted with me feet and said "NO!" to insurance plan and instead i opened up a high interest account in my name, but for Jaz and i put my monthly premium (set by me) into that for him. So if anything should happen i have money free for his treatment.

Of course, if your not good with money then this wouldn't be an option. As you would be using it all the time and you have access to it. So my advice here would be to get your parents or good friend, or someone you trust to store the money in a safe bank or place for you, should anything go wrong with your pet.

How ironic lol, Pet insurance was aired on BBC 1 this evening on the Consumer show Watchdog lol.

The very same question came "is pet insurance worth it" and the biggest problem is the wait for it.........

Well I am interested because most of the time, pet hospitals is much more expensive than human ones. But my dogs seldom get sick though and I am glad for it.

I honestly don't think its worth it, I have owned cats for 9 years now. And in 9 years I only had one medical emergency and nothing could have saved him. Frankie had his bladder stop up, my Mom works for a vet and the vet said there really is nothing you can do for them once it happens. They usually still have problems if you turn them into a female and that operation is $3,800. We ended up putting Frankie to sleep, because there was really nothing we could do for him.

Pet care costs and medical emergencies can be very expensive. But, I'm not sure if pet health insurance is the right option. You might be better off, simply putting aside the $20 premium every month into an interest bearing account that you can easily access in the event of medical emergency. Most times, the pet insurance doesn't cover the basics, so those are going to come out of your pocket anyway, no matter how much you spend on premiums.

With that being said, Purina has an all inclusive pet insurance program that does include preventative health care coverage as well as medical emergencies. Though pregnancy is not covered.
