I think my cat ran away

My 'Orange Cat' is an outdoor male cat and I haven't seen him for at least two months. I'm worried that he might have died or just moved on to new territory. I was always sure to bring him inside the house for feeding, but maybe he just didn't want to stay in the neighborhood anymore. Maybe he was a little bit jealous of the new kitten. I don't know why, considering it was his kitten, so what's to be jealous about? Hopefully, one day, I will open my door and he will be standing there asking to come in for a meal. That's my hope, anyway.

Till then, I still have the two kittens he left behind, one female fluffy orange cat named Sally who lives inside the house and the other one, Little O.C, is a fluffy black outdoor cat, (he looks like his mama). Both kittens remind me of 'Orange Cat' so much.

Anyway, I'm trying to hope for the best. And, trying not to think of anything negative over the situation.

If he's really gone for good, that will be three cats lost in less than two years. I feel like a jinx.

How do you cope with a missing pet?

Whenever there is a thunderstorm here in Houston, one of my cats runs away from up to three days. The first time it happened, I was extremely sad! It is only a kitten so I actually started crying a lot. I have grown so attatched to my cats that I cannot imagine them leaving for good.

I feel the same way about all my cats. I have four cats now, plus the outdoor kitten. I had to adopt the outdoor kitten, Little OC after Orange Cat left, just so I could feel close to him. I'm really trying to stay strong and not give into crying over the situation. A couple weeks before he disappeared, he came home with a really bloody tail, as if he had been in a fight. And, I saw another male cat hanging out in the yard before he disappeared, so I thought Orange Cat might have gotten run off his territory. Then again, my Orange Cat was one of those HUGE tabby cats. There was nothing Garfield about him. This cat was pure, solid muscle. He would stay in my kitchen and eat all day long from the bottomless bowl. There was no filling this cat up. And, it ALL went to muscle. I can't imagine another cat would have even been able to whoop up on him. It's just not possible. Sometimes, I like to think he might have been picked up by one of my neighbors and is now living inside their home. Or, maybe one of my neighbors picked him up and put him in their car before they moved off. That thought would make me happy, just so long as he is alive and comfortable. I'm OK if he's OK.

It's possible he wanted to go off to a new territory. Though that's just what some cats do (It's nothing "personal".) I have never been much of a cat liker because of how they don't seem to connect well with us. Not saying this goes for all cats. There are those ones that are occasionally very connected to people. My dog on the other hand, is not happy if hes on the other side of the door to me, if you know what I mean lol.

Before I had my daughter, I didn't think I could have kids either. She's a fluke miracle. I started adopting cats for that very reason, before my daughter was born, cause I wanted kids and companionship.

My first cat was (and still is) Big Man, a big male cat. Though at the time, he was a cast off kitten, someone had dumped in front of a convenience store and he was fighting for scraps. I couldn't just turn my back and pretend he didn't exist. I had him fixed early on, so he's still a big old mama's boy. That was well over ten years ago. He will actually cuddle in my lap when he's cold or lonely.

My second cat was EB, a beautiful manx calico cat. She was a lap cuddler too. She was my little girl before my little girl was born. When she passed on, this past year, I was devastated and had to replace her with a calico kitten. The kitten (now one year old) has a tail. But, my daughter didn't seem to notice having been so young when the first one passed. My first E.B. was gone for about a week before my daughter started noticing and asking where she was. I didn't have the heart to say her favorite cat had passed on. Thankfully, I was able to find an almost identical kitten on Craigslist. The first EB had lost lots of weight before she went, so it was feasible to say the kitten was just small cause of that and would gain weight. A year later and she looks just like the original except for the magically appearing tail. Still don't know how to explain that.

My third cat is 'Little Buddy' from one of the yard cat mamas from back when we lived in Florida. That's also where I adopted Orange Cat as a kitten. He was always destined to be a yard cat. And, when we moved, he was just about a year old and he would howl ALL night long and spray everything. I didn't have the money to have him fixed, so I opened the door and he RAN outside with no hesitation. I brought him back in regularly everyday for feeding but he always wanted to go back outside, except for the winter. Then he would come into the house, eat food and lounge on my living room carpet. Wish I had taken more photos of him that way, cause now all I have are sweet memories. Right after that, I adopted Jeffrey, another yard kitten. She passed on shortly there after. It's been a year, but still too soon to talk about the situation. And, now Orange Cat is gone.

Like I said before, I'm still hopeful he will come back, maybe when it gets cold and he needs a warm safe place to stay.

My cat is an indoor/outdoor who always comes home for breakfast. Also she is fixed so she's not out looking for love. Sorry to hear about your cat. Was he wearing a collar or a chip? My cat didn't come home one morning and I freaked out and called all the local shelters. Turns out she was at my neighbor's house.

My neighbor's lab went missing a couple of months ago, and we scoured the whole neighborhood for her. That night, I had dreams that Michael Vick stole her and used her for bait in a dog fighting ring. Maybe I was drinking too much that night.

A courteous neighbor had found her roaming around and kept her in her house until the next day, she was going to take the dog around to different houses to see which owner belonged to her! At least there's a few good people left in the world.

Of course, if it's a cat, then... Meh!

What a nice ending! Wish my cat would pop up like that too. He was always a wanderer even before he disappeared. For awhile, I thought he might have crawled under our house and passed on. But, my hubby crawled under to check and found nothing. Or, at least that's what he said. Maybe he was just sparing my feelings. Anyway, I have my two 'grandbabies' (Orange Cat's kittens) and that's enough for now. Still hope he comes back.
