When I was a kid I liked listening to hard rock and metal songs. My favorites were always Def Leppard and Metallica. Though looking back now, Def Leppard sounds more like pop rock than metal as it was classified in the late eighties. During the early nineties, I liked listening to alternative grunge metal like Pearl Jam. The emotions coming across in the music were always so broken and fractured. That fit my own emotional state at the time. Anyway, that's my favorite rock/metal music. What's yours?
I guess some Muse can be classed as hard rock, the stuff like Citizen Erased, Stockholm Syndrome etc. But proper metal I love System of a Down and Slipknot. Best song would be Aerials or Chop Suey!
I've seen Pearl Jam a couple times live. Eddie Vedder played a ukelelee. My favorite song changes with whatever mood I'm in. I like Cold and Mudvayne and Disturbed, and then there's Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Slipknot. Stone Sour, Tool, Perfect Circle, Seether, and many more.
One of my all time favorite metal songs is Enter the Sandman by iconic band Metallica. My dream to see them perform finally came true 2 weeks ago when I saw them live. After nearly 25 years on the road, they can still blow the roof off. The best Enter the Sandman performance in my opinion happened in 1991, just after the dissolution of the Soviet union. The place, Tushino airfield Moscow, where Metallica played in front of more that 1 million screaming Russian youngsters who were craving to feel a piece of Americana.
