Me and my kids have spent the last 5 hours searching for a new apartment complex. It is so hot outside and so much traffic. We have to move because our current apartment complex wont fix our air conditioner, just keep making excuses. We have been with air conditioner for almost 2 weeks now! First they said it was the filters, then they told us it was the condenser and they had to order it, they were supposed to change that on Tuesday. So now it is Thursday and they still have not come by!!!! The good thing is I found a decent place for us with good price so I will be moving within the next 2 weeks.
Boiling heat plus having the kids with you sounds like a nightmare! I can't believe that apartment block owners think that they don't have to upkeep their buildings. I know where I live after you have signed the lease you can sue if they fail to maintain the building or lie saying "I'll do it" and they never bother, have you looked into that even to give him/her a scare Also congratulations on the new apartment! What drew you to it apart from it being affordable?
I've never used air conditioning as my family was too poor to afford it when I was a kid. On the rare occasion I feel too hot, I have this awesome desk fan that I bought for $5 that works great. I also drink a lot of water so I guess that helps me stay cool too.
I think you should be fine without an air conditioner for a while. I think two weeks is too soon to decide to move over a broken air conditioner. Try telling them you're going to move unless they fix it.
What my wife and I did when we were looking for apartments. Was view them online and if we liked them we set up a appointment to take a look at the place. It defiantly will save you some gas!
