I've heard that some dogs go crazy when their owners leave the house every morning for work, racing around, ripping up couch cushions and making a mess. And, they say it's not related to mischievousness so much as anxiety over the missing owner. Does your dog act this way when you leave for work? How do you curb that behavior to let them know you will be back soon?
Yeah, I've had a dog with separation anxiety before, but my current dog is pretty good on her own. She does have a piddling problem, but it's not that big of a deal, especially since she never destroys anything. As a puppy she used to go after socks, but she no longer chews them up as an adult.
Totally breaks my heart leaving our dog behind in the mornings or anytime we leave as I can hear him cry as we are walking out of the house-- He is so distraught about staying alone that he doesnt eat or drink anything until we get home in the evenings. He's already 5 years old so I doubt he will ever get over his separation anxiety
