painting

I've started art about 4 years ago.. Mainly digital art, 3d animation. But recently, I've started painting in photoshop.

The kind of portrait I prefer is portrait and people painting. I try to replicate photorealistic ones in photoshop by referencing and can take up to 4 hours for one. It's still bad but I love what I'm doing so it's okay

Just yesterday, i was digging through an old suitcase in the closet and found a half dozen charcoal and pastel paintings that I had completed back in the days before my daughter was born. My daughter couldn't believe I'd done so many paintings. She thinks mommy is not creative at all.

It's been ages since I've painted anything in any medium, but I'm aching to get back to it.

I really enjoyed putting pencil to paper and letting the creative juices flow.

One of my best paintings ever was a charcoal drawing of Angelina Jolie. Just so happened to stash that painting in my car one day and a man walked by and saw it and asked how much money to paint his wife with charcoal. He paid me $125 for a painting of his wife from a photo. Not much by some people's standards, but for an amateur artist, it was a nice ego boost. I should really get back to painting, if not for profit, then for fun.

Wow, that's a lot for an amateur if you might say.. I know a couple of people who participates in painting events regularly and have people only paying about $10-$20 per portrait.

Different country maybe?

@ moneymakingmommy - Wow, that was very cool. I always admired people with such special skills in craft. I love to draw and paint but never master 1 of them. It seems like a " Jack of all trade and master of none". Wish, this forum have a special place to put pictures exclusively for handmade crafts made by this forum members. I would love to see your work...Debs, oil painting and portrait painting of Mian and Moneymakingmommy. It is just exciting.

I try my hand at pencil sketching then painting the drawing with watercolour every odd month or so, I like doing it but I'm not very good at it at all. One of these days I will take a class!

I'd love to see some of the paintings from the members here though, you sound really great at painting. ^^

@Moneymakingmommy - Good to see another member of this forum who has also made money with her art. It's very possible, it just takes a lot of patience and discipline. I've sold several pieces in the past and have earned about $5,000 from art alone in the past. Thinking of getting back in to the business mindset of art again some day.

I enjoy mostly digital painting now but I have tried my hand at oil paints and pastels in the past. I took several painting courses during high school as well. As far as my experience in digital art goes, I am entirely self taught in that department.
