So as you have probably all heard by now (I'd be shocked if you hadn't) Osama Bin Laden has been killed in a USA military operation. What are your thoughts and opinions on this. My friend believes no one should celebrate a death. I think it's brilliant news the person who was responsible for thousands of deaths and would have caused thousands more is now brought to justice in my eyes. Al Qaeda are celebrating his death as a martyr for the wrong reasons so it's my opinion we should celebrate it for the right reasons. Personally I am glad and thankful he has been killed and I am in the majority of cases anti death penalty but I think the world is a better place without this guy. Opinions and thoughts do you agree or disagree with me?
i dont know what to think hes one guy who had lost control of the taliban a few years ago so nothing has really changed theres still a war going on him being killed hasnt changed anything
I agree in the sense I don't think this will stop terrorist attacks or reduce them though it could have prevented any he was planning or had a part to play in. Plus I think all in all justice has been served he deserved to die in my opinion.
I am sceptical about the whole thing. I don't really believe they killed him now. Whether he's still alive, or he died/was killed ages ago I don't know, but this whole thing is a bit too ...convenient. Timewise and all
I watched a film on SKY today called UNTHINKABLE seen it before but when watching it again today it made me think if the USA have actually got him alive and are torturing him for information about potential attacks.
I don't mean to start some sort of debate or anything, but I'll just leave you with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpBPVkpmoeg&feature=feedu to look at if you want, it has a few interesting points. I would be a bit sceptical of them as well in some points, but it's good to have a look at what several sides are saying.
ive been reading stuff like this on other forums as well so its starting to make me think about it a bit more
I am unsure that he was even killed to be honest, i mean we all know how shady the united states government is, but celebrating death is just not something that should be done in my eyes, i dont have it in me to wish death on anyone, no matter how much of a horrible person they are
Well it is interesting how he was killed buried at sea so fast and no picture is allowed to be released. I would support this theory I personally think he would be to valuable to kill he knows far to much and could potentially have a lot of information to the states that could prevent terror attacks or point them in the direction of potential terrorists and people who have been involved with planning past terrorist attacks. Who knows I've heard alot of theories tbh but I doubt we will ever know the government tell us what they want us to know and that's about it if they don't want us knowing we wont know and conspiracy theorists will just be seen as crazy.
The thing that made me so mad about this whole situation was how they found bin Laden living in the lap of luxury. And, they say he could have been living in that compound for six years or more. All the time, we had US troops out in the desert scratching around trying to find him. What a waste of precious US lives.
Happy and at the same time scared. i am happy because Osama, leader of al qaeda died. However, i am scared because al qaeda is a large group of terrorist and there would be someone who will replace Osama when his dead and thus, when they carry out their attacks now, i am afraid that it would be more ruthless as they are now very angry that Osama is killed.
Oh my god, retiredscv describes exactly how I feel about his dead! I am also happy and scared at the same time!
It doesn't matter. As long as his chief financiers, the Saudi Sheikhs are there, instances of terrorism will continue. Treat the disease, not the symptom. Osama bin Laden was a symptom. The real disease is the Wahabbis of Saudi Arabia.
