Has anyone put this new Google +1 button on their websites? I put it on one, maybe more later after I figure out the best way to do it. I'm skeptical Google would ever take it into account for general search results, but if they do I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have some pages tagged with their version of "likes". I'm thinking also that it could help with return visits, if someone flags the +1 on your website then I think it will come up high in the search rankings for them in the future? I like the concept however it would be so easy to manipulate it just as is done with lots of fake facebook likes.
I'm not sure how the Google +1 pages will rank in the search engines. But, I had a theory that maybe those pages tagged by your friends from Google (such as those people in your Gmail address book) would see your +1 page recommendations on their own searches. So it would be like customized local internet search results rather than random search results from all over the world. And, maybe that would be more relevant than ALL search results. I'm sure Google will have a unique way of classifying the results to separate the general from specific search results.
I haven't put it on my website, but I did notice when I was doing a search for my site in Google, that the +1 icon was next to the result, so I clicked it.
Google +1 is a good way to make your page rank increase and possible to be in rank 1. But considering the fact that a lot of webmasters SEO abuses Google to make their website page rank 1. Sometimes I feel that Google is being inaccurate for searching some keywords.
I did put this on one of my site and some do click it but for the traffic its not that yet attractive as there are more good SEO for my niche. I can't say that its effective or not.
I finally took it off of my website, people were ignoring it so stayed at a low number which I felt make it look like the site was unpopular, which wasn't the case. I don't think it's going to catch on like Facebook likes, as it doesn't have the whole social media environment around it. If Google can build something more popular than Facebook then maybe it will work, however I doubt it.
I haven't put it on my website. However, it is a part of the Blogger system now, as far as I can remember. I don't mind having it. Some day I hope more people +1 me. LOL
