There are many leaders I like . Most of them were brilliant and way ahead of their time.
My favorite leaders are Cesar and Ramses II from ancient time and other Dusan Nemanic, Petar Petrovic Njegos and Josip Broz Tito (This is more from the middle ages to the time of Yugoslavia)
Cesar was a great general in my opinion.
    So what about you?

I can only relate to Cesar of all the leaders you mentioned as I am not really into history. I admire Winston Churchill of Great Britain who was largely responsible in the defeat of Hitler during World War II.

Golda Meir, the 4th Prime Minister of Israel. A very strong-willed woman with deep wisdom and unequaled humility.

I saw a movie about Atilla the Hun that I thought was pretty cool. I think its just called Atilla. If the movie is accurate, he was an orphan who became the leader of a tribe on the steppes, and then united them all under his banner. He was poisoned at one of his weddings I think.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was my favorite leader. He pulled us through the Great Depression and WW2.

Alexander Nevsky, Prince of Novgorod during 13th century should come up first. Yermak was another amazing leader. Among the modern leaders I think only Slobodan Milosevic of Serbia deserves any respect. The leader whom I hate the most is Boris Yeltsin.

If I had to pick great leaders from history whom I admire, they would include Abraham Lincoln from the States; Jawaharlal Nehru from India; Julius Nyerere from Tanzania; Pierre Trudeau from Canada; Oliver Cromwell from Britain. These are leaders whom I'm familiar with, and can cite some admirable achievements.

There are other leaders from the more remote ages who might be included in the list, but these names would be those that were heroes when I was young. Later, as I came to learn more about history, most fell from their pedestal. However, I'll include the names just for the record.

Alexander the Great; Julius Caesar; Napoleon Bonaparte; Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Winston Churchill for me, pulled us through the hardest of times, really admire his leadership.

However Maggie Thatcher is the devil herself, i couldn't express my disdain for that woman.

I really admire Nelson Mandela. He has been a prolific leader for many south Africans and is a symbol of anti-apartheid. Even after spending most of his life behind bars, he lead his country to prosperity and reconciliation once he became president. He is truly an icon.
