Do you have a favourite accent to listen to?

I love the Scottish accent, it makes me weak at the knees....but the Irish accent I have trouble with. The girls I understand more than the boys but I do struggle to understand the Irish accent.

Since I'm not a native English speaker I would just say: 'British English'! :D

I totally love and adore the way British people speak. Can't really distinguish accents (except Irish / Scottish).

I really don't have a favorite, but people say that I have a very heavy southern accent! I am from Texas, so maybe that is why...
Come to think of it, I really like Australian accents!

I live in Illinois and people always tell me I have a southern (hillbilly) accent. I don't think I do..but I do like very southern accents myself :)

Probably Scottish. I don't really know why but it's one that sounds cool and doesn't really get annoying. I also like the British accent, but it's one of those that if it's too strong it can begin to get a bit annoying.

I am not an English native speaker but I am always having fun listening to British accent. The rise and fall intonation is something different. In the movie, I can easily recognized the British accent and I like it. I didn't hear Irish accent yet, maybe it is interesting as some posters mentioned them above. :)

I am kind of sick of accents since I work in transcription but if I had to choose would probably be French.

I am not a native English speaker, and i dont know the real difference between accents.
I just know British English and American English are quite different.
British English sounds pleasant to ears but its difficult for me to catch while American English sounds easier to catch and understand.

I could not follow those British English speakers; they speak too fast and there is such a strong accent!
I find American english is easier for me to understand.

Yes, I agree. It is easy to understand the American English. I just like the way how the British speak. I like the tone and the rise and falling of words each time they talk. :)

During my university we listened to BBC a lot in order to imitate the British English, lol.
However, most of us failed to do it coz its very difficult to imitate.

I can relate how you feel. I have difficulty in learning English as well when I was in College. My accent sounds like my native language. I can speak 4 local Philippine languages. That's why, when in comes to English speaking it turns out bad. But my motto is " Nothing is too hard when you keep on trying". We had that sort of activity too, listen and imitate. It was hard but very interesting part of the class. Our creative writing teacher, show us a film once or twice in a week for us to learn something and observed how the English speaking people pronounce each word and how they deliver it.

It seems only a few of us could get rid of our mother language accent when learning a second language.
It happens to me too. Even now i am afraid i am still speaking english with my mother language accent :p
I think it needs a lot of practice before you can master it.
Practice makes perfect. I should have practiced more.

Well here down in Bristol we have our own dialect called Bristolian , and we use words such as, Lover = love , baber = friend , gurt lush = good

There are only two accents that make me weak at the knees and want to kidnap the speaker lol.
Irish - I just love the way it sounds, it seems to be like that with a lot of people here. Irish ftw ^^
Italian - I am a sucker for anyone with this accent, I would happily listen to someone speak nonsense all day if they had this accent. I would also want to steal them but that would get me in big trouble.
