There is a new oil spill and this time it is happening right now in Montana courtesy of Exxon. This is due to a broken pipeline which spilled thousands of gallons of crude oil. As of press time, the Montana's Yellowstone River is closely appraised on containing the problem and the associated environmental destruction that will come along the way. Thankfully, the pipeline is already fixed and they are now concentrating on the cleaning up process.

Wherever Exxon is there, oil spills also will be there. They are doing it for the hundredth time? A super giant like Exxon, which is having a market cap of $404 billion USD needs not worry too much about these things. Even if they give some paltry compensation to the environmental agencies, they can do some gimmicks, show some TV ads and claim that they are a green company.

It is sad to note that a very profitable company would just be allowed to do lip service with the environmental damages that occurred while this company is doing business. We need businesses but we also need to have a green and livable environment. We don't have to sacrifice one over the other because with the use of modern technology we can already satisfy these two big concerns. We must send this strong message to Exxon and we should also wake the government up to help us on this problem and never be beholden to the billions of dollars this company could easily rely on for lobbying.

I read an article that said the company knew about the potential for a leak in that pipe. As usual the company ignored the danger until it finally caused environmental damage. We really need to focus on less dangerous sources of energy and also start making our plastics with plant matter.
