Making your own clothes

My sister sews. She is good at it. Her teachers were impressed at how fast she learnt sewing. In 1 weeks she was good at making patterns and sewing tops.. then in 2 weeks time she was working on shorts and pants without actually learning it from her Teachers. Well, she saw how they worked on it... and when she came home she worked on it... Now she sews shorts and dress for friends and relatives, they pay her but less than professional tailors in shops..

Wow! I'm really impressed with your sister's sewing talent. Some time back, I purchased a really good sewing machine with all the best features from HSN (shopping television) and then made some cute baby clothes and cloth diapers for my daughter. At the time she was only about a year old. I found a way to convert the bottom half of those snap to onesies into an all in one diaper and cover, so I didn't have to use two. It was lots of fun to sew while she slept. Having tried sewing, I can say that I'd prefer to just buy clothes cause it takes so much time and effort and there are so many others better at it than me. For now, I'll stick to hanging out with my kid and playing online games and posting on forums. Those are my favorite things to do anyway. But, it's good to know that others had more luck with sewing than me.

I would love to design my own clothes but I'm really bad at sewing.

My current favorite is the faux glass bangle from cutoutandkeep.
It's so pretty and easy to make. If you have a vinyl tube, yarn and oil, give it a go.

I've been making my own clothing since I was a teenager. I usually use patterns but everyone and then I will create something from my brain.
I have a ton of vintage patterns that I want to learn how to re-draft but there is a lot of mathematics involved in the process.
