When I had cable TV, I hated watching television commercials. They were so annoying, always interrupting the movie or story line. Thankfully, I don't have to watch any now that my cable subscription has been canceled. Now, I watch DVDs and there are no breaks. How do you feel about television commercials? Love them? Hate them?
They can be annoying, and yes I hate them, but I think they provide a small break from the show. I just hate it when they're too long.
Yeah, that's the thing I hate about commercials most. During the best shows, they always seem too long. During the boring shows, the ads actually provided a much needed respite to get up from the couch and do something else.
I go through phases of loving them and then not loiking them. I think they go through having some really good adverts that makes me laugh and others that have really good tunes on them. Saying that I'm not a very big tv person. If we got rid of the tv I wouldn't miss it but the kids would lol
I'm not a big TV person either. I prefer DVDs or Netflix on my computer. There's few shows I actually like.
I like them, they provide the perfect chance to go to the toilet or get something to eat. When watching shows on BBC I don't get these luxuries.
That's too funny! My kid is the exact same way. After our DTV converter box broke, we didn't have ANY TV in the house for the longest time. And, she was always saying, 'Mommy I want to watch something, now!' Emphasis on NOW! That's when I discovered the Netflix streaming and Hulu online. Those sites worked out for a good long while, but since we only have two computers there were always squabbles over who was going to watch what on which computer. Plus mommy works online so there's only really one computer available for TV watching online and it's not mine! And, I couldn't afford another new computer at the time. So, we got the ROKU box last Christmas as a family gift and paid all of $45 for a reconditioned one off Ebay from the official ROKU store. That included free shipping, which was a $10 savings. The regular priced new ROKU costs at least $59 here plus $10 shipping. So, I saved a little bit of change on that purchase. I was very happy about that.
Before running my own forum I used to hate them, but now after installing ads in my forum I realized that its a part of business. I still wish that TV was advertisements free but on the other side its their necessity too.
A very good point. Most TV channels and networks are for profit and have to make their penny off the ads, just like all us bloggers and forum owners. Thanks for the fresh perspective. Still, I wouldn't mind a chunk of ads at the start and end of the show and none in between. That's how Hulu does it. Then again, you can't really get away from those ads, except to turn down the volume. Surprisingly, I never do.
No, I don't hate commercials. Some of them are very funny. What I don't like is how many the network makes you watch if you want to watch their channel. So now I just watch TV on Hulu. There's less commercials, plus I can watch the shows any time I want, not when the network decides.
I love Netflix for that reason too. You can literally watch hours upon hours without interruption if you want. And, that's how we spend most of our Saturdays, at home in front of the TV with ROKU and Netflix streaming.
I don't mind them, sometimes I see something funny or something that I need or want. Also good time to go to the bathroom or get a snack LOL
In the past, when I had DTV converter box or cable, I'd watch TV with one eye on the screen and one eye on my computer as I visited forums or posted on my blog. It was fun having two things going at once. Then on commercials, I would give the forums my full attention. Trouble is, I'd get distracted and get out of the TV show or forget why I was watching in the first place and next thing I knew the credits would be rolling and I'd say, 'What happened?'.
I majored in advertising, so I can't hate them. Ads are revealing, although some are annoying. SuperBowl ads are epic! I do think there are too many ads these days, and it's getting harder and harder for advertisers to stand out.
I just look advertising as part of Television. I just hate it when it comes to movie channels wherein the story is already in the climax and suddenly cut by a pizza commercial. Those are the moments that you are engrossed so much to the story that even a single distraction is inexcusable, then, out of nowhere, it paused just to give way for the commercial (even on cable channels), it irritates me a lot.
Only if I'm not getting paid to watch them. I'm spoiled now...because...I get paid to watch video ads on my computer so I no longer have the patience to watch the ones on TV.
I'll be frank, I absolutely HATE t.v. commercials, and the reasons for it may not be what you're thinking. The reason I despise them so much is because they just make me want to buy things that I don't need. Ugh, and especially those pesky food commercials (ex. Pizza Hut, Domino's, El Pollo Loco etc.) because I have a tendency to give in to my food cravings from time to time...
I like the funny ones and the informative ones. I hate the ones that have no relevance to the product or service being offered. I may not like it when there is too many commercials during one of my favorite shows or movies. I get impatient with that sometimes.
