Does your cat like to hunt?

In my house, anything that crawls or creeps on the floor is a dead thing within just minutes. We have an occasional lizard visitor from outdoors and as soon as it gets inside, the cats chase it all over.
Of course, if I get to the lizard first, I scoop it up and put it back outside before it can get eaten.

My cats are NOT hungry cause I feed them well. So I'm just wondering why they insist on preying upon a defenseless little lizard that is not hurting anyone. Why do they need to hunt if they're not hungry? Does your cat do that?

My cat is similar to your cat. Every mouse or every bug is instantly hunted by my cat. He is very quick and always loves some extra food. He does not hunt outside though because he is an indoor cat, except for the time he got loose
    :(
But yeah my cat does hunt and he is good at it!

Awww! Yeah, I thought it was just my cat, but it would make sense they are all that way. :)

When my two year old female cat, EB, pushed out our window screen and jumped out, she was gone for two days. At first, I thought she'd run off. Of course, I was devastated. Then one morning, I looked out my kitchen window and there she was on the front lawn, pouncing on bugs in the grass. She seemed to be having the time of her life, well up till the point that it rained and she ran under the house and stayed there for the rest of the day.

Later on, she was more than happy to come back into the house when she got hungry.

Haha thats exactly how my cat ran away! He fell out a window like yours. Mine didn't come back though. Luckily the mail man had seen my cat close by and we found him in a sewer :p

We had to clean him to make sure he didnt have ticks after that!

    Oh wow! Poor kitty! :(

I'll bet you were so worried while he was gone. I know that I was worried about mine. I'm not surprised your cat would climb into a sewer though, with all those cars whizzing by on the street. Probably the safest place for him. From my experience, I've found that it doesn't usually take a cat very long to get accustomed to the outdoor world. When my Orange Cat (now missing) first went outside, he seemed lost and didn't come in for three days, but he never really wanted to be an indoor cat after that. Of course, he'd wanted to be outside and was yowling all the time at the door all the time to be let out so he could go propagate the world with orange. Thankfully, he did just that before he ran off seeking new territory, so now I have two adorable grand-kitties ( a male and female, one orange and one black, both fluffy Persian like their mom and big like their dad, Street Tom OC).

One of the kittens lives indoors with me, Sally, the little orange kitten. And, Little OC (black cat) lives outside. He wanted it that way and refused to come indoors. Though we do bring him into the kitchen every meal time. He expects it. I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

My cat will hunt when it suits her. One time a mouse ran in when I was bringing in the groceries, and my cat just sat there and watched it. It eventually left via the front door as well. But she'll sit in the yard for hours waiting for a mole to pop out of the ground. She doesn't eat them, she just plays with them, which seems kind of cruel to me.

I know what you mean. One time, I was watching a documentary on cats and they were saying the only mercy a cat ever shows is when it FINALLY kills the thing it's playing with. Imagine how torturous that must feel for the poor little bug or mouse or mole who is getting stuck with those claws as the cat is 'playing' with it.

I know how much it hurts even when my cat Little buddy is kneading my lap to 'soften' it up so she can find a comfy spot and sit down. She has huge claws! I don't cut her claws anymore since she started going outside. I wouldn't want to leave her defenseless. It seems to be working out cause she's not a violent or dangerous cat like some. She mothers everyone.

The cat we used to have liked hunting. And the cat did the job well when he knew a mouse was around. I mean seriously, the cat was vigilant. I mean stay in one spot waiting for hours vigilant.

My cat like to hunt bugs that fly in through the window. He's not good at it though so the bugs just get away.
Occasionally, he would catch a bird but he doesn't kill it. He likes to play with it. :)
