I've been shopping around for a new Kodak camera for well over a year and have the choice narrowed down to two Kodak cameras including Kodak Easy Share Z981 (around $250) and the Kodak Easy Share C183 ($59).

Mostly the cheaper camera would be for my younger daughter who likes using the camera.

I would be hesitant about letting her handle a more expensive camera and the cheaper Kodak C183 seems just about right.

I've heard good things about the Kodak Easy Share Z981 and can't wait to try it out.

Hopefully, I can find a good deal on n both cameras.

Do you have a Kodak Easy Share camera, now or have you owned one in the past? Please give details and share your experience.

    Thanks

I own two of them and both of them are older. I have had nothing but a pleasant experience with them. The picture quality is excellent and the batteries last forever. Our current Kodak camera is 3 years old and we have never replaced the battery. I hope that helps your decision.

Thank you so much for the glowing Kodak recommendation. To me, Kodak has always felt like the right choice, though I have considered Canon. I grew up with Kodak, but those were the regular film cameras. And, those are the only cameras I've ever had, except for a cheap webcam. Making the leap to Kodak digital will be a really big deal. It would be nice to see some digital photos taken by Kodak before making the purchase.

Keep in mind that is is from a almost 4 year old camera, the new ones are leaps and bounds better!

Wow! That's amazing. I love the clarity and detail in the photo. I didn't know the Kodak digital camera took such amazing photos. I could do a lot with a camera like that. Does your Kodak take video? And, if so, what's the quality like? I've read some reviews from Kodak users that say the video quality on non-HD Kodak cameras is not too good. But, I'm not after perfection. My primary concern for the video quality on a Kodak camera would be that the audio/video be synced up and not lag and the video is not too grainy.

Honestly I am not sure about the video quality, my wife has a Iphone we just use that if we want to make a quick video. And we also have a video camera if we want to make quality videos. My brother has this video camera that is no bigger then a cell phone and takes amazing videos. I think he payed $150 for it. If your looking to take video too, I would suggest buying something that is dedicated to taking video. :)

That's sort of what I was thinking I might have to do. Though money is an issue. I'm just shopping around to find the best two-fer deal I can find. The digital video cameras all take great video but lousy photos, or at least that's what I've heard. And, a camera is more like what I would prefer, especially since my daughter took up an interest in photography. I like to encourage her healthy habits, cause kids can so easily get distracted into the wrong direction otherwise. Anyway, I was just hoping for a good video camera to boot. Doesn't have to be perfect. I have a JVC 8 MM camcorder, that is about ten years old. It works fine, but I struggle to upload the video to my computer and online. I can't find the right software/USB interface device for transferring video. I tried the ezCap transfer device and software but it was a dud. Or, maybe I just didn't use the right settings. Again, there was a major lag between video and audio.

I have a Kodak Easy Share camera and I love it. For basic picture taking, it works perfectly. However, this holiday season I'm probably going to get a Digital SLR. I just don't know which one to get yet. So many to choose from and tons of features.
