I have a job and im very thankful of it (even though I have had some extreme difficulties through it)

but it is very hard nowadays to get into work. There's so much competition for each single post. I think people have to do more work now before going for interviews, ie interview training and advice etc

Its really hard to find a job these days, and i personally dont think it will get any easyer anytime soon. Every business is feeling the pinch and to be honest its going to go on for years to be honest. I may be wrong we may all come out of this singing and dancing. But i dont think so.

I think the economy is much better and it isn't as hard as it once was.
My wife began looking for a job in our hometown not too long ago and within 1 month
she had GameStop, Office Depot, Sonic, and a few others calling her back for an interview.
They may be ideal jobs but they are available. It just takes commitment.

I disagree come to Michigan, you will be lucky to find a job at McDonald's. Stores are closing left and right around my house. In the last 5 months 7 stores closed with in 10 miles of my house.

I agree completely, I applied to about 5 places to work at and I didn't get a call back from any of them. I made sure to get my resume checked by 4 friends, 1 who is pretty boss in English too. But I got accepted to this really crappy warehouse place after calling them a second time. It lasted only for the winter but it was an easy labor job. I lost a few pounds which was exciting to learn.

But to get a bit more on topic I would like to say that just because they don't call you back in the first two weeks don't let it discourage you. Call back and talk to the manager or go meet them in person and ask them how the application approval is going. Make sure you right a good resume based upon where you are going to work at, don't talk about any previous experience or current knowledge if it isn't based upon the job. Lets say I wanted to work for the Geek Squad I wouldn't go and put plumber experience or heating and cooling would I? Well, I can't wait until someone replies to my silly post.

My husband is having a horrible time finding a job. Its really scary because I don't know what he's going to do. I certainly pray to God he finds a job soon. :(

I used to work at McDonalds and people would be surprised how hard it is to get in there I'd applied several times on my own and never got anywhere not even an interview I actually landed the job because my mum knew the manager of a store and managed to get me an interview that way but I'm pretty sure had she not known that manager I never would have landed the job because I wouldn't have got an interview.

Don't get me wrong the interview process in itself is as easy as pie but actually landing an interview is the difficult part.

If you live in a really big city, there's going to be lots of competition for jobs. Then again, small towns are the worst for getting a job, cause there are not too many around. A mid-sized city is just about the right size for finding a job. If you can't find a job in your own hometown, you might try applying for jobs, the next town over. Also, let all your friends know you are looking for a job.

Being a full time stay at home mom, my ONLY personal income comes from working online with my blogs and articles. So far, I'm doing pretty good. I'm hoping to build it up to a full time income. My household expenses are VERY low by comparison to others cause we own our trailer, so that means any money that I earn online goes toward paying for groceries and electricity.

Cutting expenses is the first thing you need to do if you are having trouble finding a job. Otherwise you will go right through your savings.

For now, I'm doing fine working at home, cause we also have a disability check coming in for another person in the house. Though, I'm not ruling out the idea that I will have to go out VERY SOON and get a job at the Walmart. It's not what i thought I'd end up doing, but I'm not opposed to it.

I think it depends on individuals.
For those who are competent i think its very easy for them to find a job.
For those who are plain in work it might be a little bit difficult as there are soooo many plain people in every corner of the world!

I am now unemployable because I don't have a job. That's why I started working for myself online. I make significantly less, but over the last year I've gone from making 4 cents a day to $20 a day regularly (that includes weekends and holidays). Its not much at all, but its just enough to pay rent and utilities. I still occasionally check the job boards but there just isn't much. Temp agencies have almost no local jobs. I have also started to advertise my tech skills locally. I've had some interest but no sales yet.

I think it's 'easy' to get a job but very hard to get a job you want and that pays well these days. I'm working now, but it's nothing close to what I started when I first looked for jobs. It didn't help that I had to move to a ghetto city too. So I'm not sure if my unemployment had anything to do with the recession or just the fact that my town is lame. :(
