Have you done any type of voluntary work?

    What have you done?

If not.....would you consider doing any?

i did awhile ago in a charity shop a red cross one a few years ago it wasnt fun but i liked it it seemed like a good thing working for nothing some people may think its strange but hey it was a good job :)
  1. I did by working with the elderly then I got offered a job to work for them which was good as it was a well paid job and just working and helping the elderly out just made me feel good and I think it made them feel good as well

I've volunteered for a few charities in the past.

I used to volunteer with a Christian Youth Team on the estate where I lived as a Junior Leader that was rewarding working with people my own age trying to make a difference and set an example though I wasn't to good at it and ended up getting caught up in the life style I was trying to say to others to avoid so I ended up leaving that.

I also volunteered for St. Johns Ambulance as a cadet which was really rewarding I was able to learn so much and meet so many interesting people that really wanted to make a difference to people's lives. I wish I could get involved with it again I've filled out the online form so many times and been told that my application had been forwarded to my local division yet I've never heard anything past that.

For anyone who hasn't volunteered and doesn't like the idea of working for free I'd say if you have spare time and are looking for something to do defiantly try volunteering it's so rewarding it looks awesome on a C.V. and though you're not paid you get paid in knowing you're really making a difference and a lot of places have trips and outings and experiences you wouldn't have got to do unless you were volunteering it's honestly 100% worth it.

I did 20 years in the St John Ambulance and too found it very rewarding. I also was the badger sett leader there (5-10) while there I did my Grand Prior badge and did voluntry work at stable and at an old peoples home.
I have also done some with RSPCA.
I think my favourite voluntary work was with Samaritans. I really got the buzz of helping and listening to people who were in need of a friendly ear.

I also signed up with them but heard nothing back.

Seems like everywhere is crying out for volunteers but as soon as I put my name down they run a mile lol :p

I've worked as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society during Breast Cancer Awareness month. For the most part, we had very light clerical duties pinning pink ribbons to brochures and inserting them into envelopes for mailing out to local businesses. It was a fun task cause I got to work with several chatty women. One of the women had a story of breast cancer survival that brought tears to the eyes. It was a very rewarding experience.

I can not do any voluntary work because I HATE strange people in real life. I almost always end up getting into a fight on the job. Thats one of the reasons my Doctors told me I have to quit working.

That was I always wanted to do, a voluntary work. I lived in the church as a worker, we teach children in the remote areas, do some visitation and I guess that would be consider as voluntary work. But I still want to work also in a charity institute. As of now, I am an online volunteer doing a translation job at youthleader magazine. I would like to do more and always wish to be a part of community development and change. :)

I occassionaly volunteer at an animal shelter. I clean out the cat cages and walk the dogs. I'd go more often if it was closer and gas wasn't so expensive. Its rewarding to me because I know the animals appreciate it in their own way.

Yes! I volunteered at recovery efforts for Hurricane Katrina and helped build houses. It was a lot of fun and it's very meaningful work. I would do it again if I didn't have to pay for my own air tickets.
